PPEMENU Version 1.0 Beta DOCS (Compiled 02/28/94 2:04pm)
─────────────────────────────
If you have not already read the README.1ST file included in this archive,
please read it before installation of this program.
Note
───────
If you would like additional customization and personalization of PPEMENU,
I am able to code this program to your specifications, for just the cost
of compensation for my time. For further information, leave me a message
on The Metropolis Information System (510) 231-0353 or on Salt Air BBS at
(801) 261-8979, with your request and I will let you know what it will
require as far as difficulty, which will determine the compensation fee
for time spent.
Introduction
─────────────────────
PPEMENU Version 1.0 Beta is an excellent, flexible and customizable program
that can manage ALL of your PPE's available under one convenient menu.
PPEMENU may be run anywhere a PPE is allowed to be installed in PCBoard.
Such locations include the login file, a display file, a PCBTEXT record,
from a CMD.LST file, and more! The possibilities of such flexibility are
endless and is up to your imagination and creativity. Most people, however,
will want to just install it in a CMD.LST.
INSTALLATION
─────────────
1. Assuming that you are reading this file, you have already decompressed
the PPEMNU10.ZIP archive. Make sure you place ALL of the files extracted
from the archive into the directory where you wish this program to be run
from. (Example: C:\PCB\PPL\PPEMENU)
2. PPEMENU Version 1.0 Beta comes with a configuration file named PPEMENU.CFG.
This file will contain the path AND filename of EACH the ppe's you intend
to run from PPEMENU Version 1.0 Beta. Here is the correct format of how
you will edit the PPEMENU.CFG file:
D:\PCB\PPL\DEPOSIT\DEPOSIT.PPE ;line 1
D:\PCB\PPL\BBSLIST\BBSLIST.PPE ;line 2
and so on... for how ever many PPE's you wish to run from PPEMENU.
Notice that you must include the drive, path, and filename of the
PPE's. Also note, there should be NO SPACES between each line.
The first line is line 1 which will correspond to selection 1 from
the PPE Menu. The second line is line 2 which will correspond with
selection 2, and so on.. So when a user selects 1 from the main
menu, the PPE listed in line 1 will execute, if user selects 2 then
PPE on line 2 will execute, and so on...
3. Edit and customize the menu display filename 'MENU'. This is the display
shown to users, that will list ALL the PPE's available to run from PPEMENU.
You can customized this any way you see fit. The filename must remain named
'MENU', however.
4. PPEMENU may be installed anywhere that PCBoard will allow a PPE. Some
places to install it are in the login file, as a PCBTEXT record, in a
display file, or anywhere your imagination sees fit. Most of you will
want to install it in the command list as a Main Menu selection. In
this case, you would just go into PCBSETUP, selection 'file locations',
then select 'configuration files', and from that menu, scroll down to
CMD.LST and hit F2 to edit the list.
Simply enter the command of your choice to execute PPEMENU, enter the
security level required on your system to access PPEMENU, and finally
include the drive, path, and filename to PPEMENU.
Example of CMD.LST:
command security location
───────── ────────── ───────────────────────────────
PPEMENU 20 D:\PCB\PPL\PPEMENU\PPEMENU.PPE
5. Well, that's it! PPEMENU is all configured and ready to run. There
is no maintenance required and the only thing you need to keep in mind,
is to edit the PPEMENU.CFG file whenever you want to change the PPE's
available from PPEMENU.
